TV SCI-FI DVDs
Time was indeed of the essence in Irwin Allen's fondly remembered 1966-67 sci-fi series. James Darren and Robert Colbert starred as Tony Newman and Doug Phillips, scientists with a secret government program whose experiments sent them "helplessly toward a new fantastic adventure somewhere along the infinite corridors of time." Lee Meriwether, Whit Bissell also starred. The first 15 episodes--including "Rendezvous with Yesterday," "One Way to the Moon," "Devil's Island," "The Alamo," and "Invasion"--are featured in a four-disc set. The science here is wacky but the ambitiousness and energy of the series shine through. Each episode ends with a cliffhanger, so in a way this is like a deluxe triple-length-episode serial in full color!. An exceptionally vibrant transfer of the original material in stunning color, with a surprising amount of extras. Recommended. 12 3/4 hrs. total. Extras: featurettes; unaired extended pilot; photo gallery; TV spots; radio spots.
