Dr. Burton Montrose, a famous scientist, discovers a biological element which he believes will improve the mental faculties of the human race. Instead, when tested on a few human subjects, the discovery reacts, turning them into cruel and bloodthirsty murderers. This band of arch-criminals is led by Pierre LaRue, a cunning leader, and they cover up their tracks so well that the only clue to their identity is the ante-mortem statement of one of the victims that the leader has blood-red eyes.

Recovered from the only known print, which was literally frozen in the Arctic ice for 50 years. Not kidding! This is the first time this serial has been seen anywhere for over 100 years. The transfer is very sharp, from 35mm nitrate originals, and has been stabilized and the picture wonderfully cleaned up. Titles have been added at the beginnings and ends of chapters to clarify action that has preceded the content in a chapter and summarized what was to follow in the case the next reel was unavailable. Some decomposition damage is viewable occasionally on edges and has not been cropped out.

This presentation includes restored versions of the footage from the reels of the serial which have survived and while entertaining on its own should be purchased with one of the versions of the novelization at right for full viewable content and the "whole story."
